Overview

The Sandhill River Golf Course is a unique par 36 course set on the banks of the Sandhill River near Fertile, MN. The 9-hole public course has become popular for it's scenic views and beautiful landscaping. Sandhill River Golf Course is known for it's signature Hole #4. Golfers tee off 50 feet above the fairway and have to place their shot between the river and the woods. The course is unique in that golfers have a good chance of golfing an entire round without interference from golfers on other holes. A tarred cart path weaves around the whole course allowing golfers to golf in almost any weather condition. The course can be challenging--golfers cross the river four times and golf along side the river nearly the whole round.

History

The Sandhill River Golf Course began as a dream in 1991 when a handful of area citizens wanted a golf course in Fertile. A private non-profit corporation was formed and land was purchased. Over the next five years the course was built by volunteers who donated the use of equipment, materials, money, and thousands of hours of labor.
On Labor Day of 1996, the course opened to the public. Thanks to the faithful community effort that was involved in planning, designing, and building the course, a dream became a reality.
Sandhill River Golf Club, Inc. is owned by its members and managed by the board of directors.

Location

The Sandhill River Golf Course is located on the south edge of Fertile, Minnesota along State Highway 32. The course is approximately 45 miles southeast of Grand Forks, North Dakota and 70 miles northeast of Fargo-Moorhead.
